Our Story

Good Shepherd Annual Report

About Us

The Lutheran Church of the Good
Shepherd
was organized in 1966. Our humble beginnings started in the school gymnasium at Orchard Park. In 1973 our first church building was built on Isaac Street in Niagara Falls. Part of that original church building is presently part of the Lutheran Homes Niagara housing complex. In 1992 our present church building was built at the corner of Dorchester Rd and Isaac St. We share our church building with the First Baptist Church.

For over 50 years, Good Shepherd has served the community in Niagara Falls and has been a witness to God’s Love and our Christian Faith.

We are a diverse congregation with a common thread of salvation through Jesus Christ. Our lead Pastor is from El Salvador. One of our supply pastors is from Finland.  Another is from Manitoba.  We have members from  Korea, India and Pakistan, and some have a German background. We are blessed to share in each others experiences and to all worship together. Everyone is welcome at our church.

We are a Christian ELCIC congregation, inspired by the Word of God, the Love of God and the Saving Knowledge of Jesus Christ. We witness to our Christian faith through Sunday worship,  music,  celebrating the Lord's table,  Sunday school, and caring for each other and the community.

We hope you can come and worship with us this Sunday morning at 9:15am

Our Pastor

My name is Pr. Julio Cesar Romero and I welcome you to surf our webpage and find out about the exciting things the Holy Spirit is doing here at Good Shepherd. I also want to tell you about myself. I emigrated to this great country of Canada in 1990 from El Salvador in Central America. After a few years of residing in Canada, I felt the call to become a Pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. It was so that after completing my studies at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary I was ordained in 2004. Over the years as an ordained servant of God, I have served four Lutheran Churches in the Niagara Region. I am presently called to a shared ministry with 3 Lutheran churches including Faith in St Catharines, Trinity in Fort Erie and the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Niagara Falls. I hope that one day when you visit us, I will be able to tell you more about myself and have the opportunity to share my faith with you.
 Peace, Pr. Julio Romero
